RadioUSA FAQsRadioUSA is a division of NewsUSA. The following are answers to common questions about the RadioUSA process. For more information, e-mail NewsUSA Contract Manager, Genie Burn at gburn@newsusa.com or call (703) 462-2041. All RadioUSA features are availible on our radio features Web site, www.newsusaradio.com. The Web site provides your stories in downloadable audio files, text scripts, and HTML files. What is the RadioUSA format?RadioUSA's radio-spot format is two 30-second scripts under one headline. This provides two options for announcers, encouraging maximum usage and ensuring more radio placements. I am accustomed to 60 seconds of radio time. Why does RadioUSA use 30-second spots instead of 60-second ones?RadioUSA follows the demands of the radio industry. Radio announcers want 30-second spots to fill their small time slots. We still give you a total of 60 seconds for your radio message, but in the format radio stations use. What is a RadioUSA "companion" radio feature? Most of the radio features are written from our clients' signed-off print features, often referred to as companion radio features because they are on the same topic. If a companion radio feature is part of your contract, you must request it by the materials deadline on RadioUSA's publicity planning calendar (PDF). The easiest way to do this is to write your request for a companion radio feature on your print feature sign-off or contact the NewsUSA contract manager at (703) 462-2041. What is a RadioUSA "independent" radio feature? An independent radio feature is one that is unrelated to a NewsUSA print feature in your contract. Clients who are supplying materials for an independent radio feature should send in their materials — preferably via e-mail — by the materials deadline on RadioUSA's publicity planning calendar (PDF). Why is the RadioUSA "materials deadline" one month in advance of the RadioUSA distribution date?Radio spots must be written and signed off by the radio planning calendar's (PDF) sign-off deadline so our RadioUSA issue can be compiled and distributed to stations about one week before the beginning of the publicity month. |
